Get to know us

Janz Performance is an independent workshop in Smallfield, near Horley and Gatwick. We service, repair and diagnose everyday cars, local business fleets, modified cars and track builds. You can bring us a daily driver for its annual service, a working vehicle that needs dependable fleet support or something more involved that needs tyres, alignment, fabrication or performance work.

Janz Performance workshop

About me

My passion for cars and motorcycles started at a very young age. I was always interested in understanding how things worked, taking things apart and finding ways of making them perform better. At 16, that interest turned into modifying and tuning mopeds, before moving onto a 600cc motorcycle at 17. When I bought my first car, a Honda Civic, leaving it standard didn’t last very long — one of my first major projects was carrying out a B16 engine conversion. I went on to study Motor Vehicle Engineering to Level 3 at college before working professionally in the motor trade for several years, building experience in servicing, repairs, diagnostics and more involved mechanical work. Motorsport has always been a big part of my life too. I’ve raced 600cc motorcycles and competed in motocross, experiences which gave me an even greater appreciation for vehicle preparation, reliability and getting the most from a machine. My attention eventually moved onto performance cars, particularly Mazda RX-7s. Years of owning, modifying and taking RX-7s on track helped me build a strong knowledge of performance engines, suspension, braking and vehicle setup. More recently, BMWs have become a major focus — along with a fairly serious obsession with the Nürburgring. Developing my own track car and continually experimenting with alignment, suspension, tyres, brakes and setup has given me valuable real-world experience of how relatively small changes can completely transform the way a car behaves. That same mindset is behind Janz Performance today. Whether I’m carrying out routine maintenance, diagnosing a difficult fault, setting up suspension and wheel alignment or working on a dedicated performance car, I approach every job with the same objective: understand the vehicle, do the job properly and achieve the best possible result. Cars aren’t simply my job — they’re something I’ve spent most of my life learning about, working on and enjoying.

How we work

We start by listening to what the car is doing and how you use it. Once we've checked it over, we'll explain what we found, what needs attention now and what can wait. You will get a price before we begin, and if anything changes while the car is with us, we'll call before carrying out extra work.

Everyday and specialist work

The workshop is set up for routine maintenance, local fleet work and more specialist jobs. That means we can keep company cars and light commercial vehicles working, diagnose a difficult fault with our Autel system, make a one-off part or prepare a modified car for road or track use. Keeping that work together matters. An upgrade still needs to be reliable, and a working vehicle still benefits from accurate diagnosis and careful setup.

What we do
